The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) made waves on April 23, 2024, when it issued a final rule banning non-compete agreements within the United States. Peter Idziak spoke with the media following final approval of the rule, discussing how it would impact the residential real estate and mortgage industries.
Idziak noted that employers within the industries, while no longer able restrict an employee’s movement to a competitor, should still use non-disclosure and non-solicitation agreements to protect private information. He also highlighted certain practices that may fall under the ban, such as reimbursements of training programs and employee handbooks.
