Cody provides mortgage regulatory compliance and legal advice to lenders in all aspects of residential mortgage transactions. He has extensive knowledge of requirements lenders must meet to sell loans to investors in the secondary market, including Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac requirements for the use of powers of attorneys to close mortgage loan transactions. Before attending law school, he served as a systems administrator for the Nueces County Appraisal District, a position that gave him valuable practical insight into the Texas ad valorem property tax appraisal process.
In addition to his work for mortgage lenders, Cody is proud to have provided pro bono services to soldiers and veterans as a member of the Warrior Defense Project. His work for that organization includes the drafting of an amicus brief filed with the United States Supreme Court for an appeal involving the Army National Guard Recruiting Assistance Program.
Cody is an honors graduate of St. Mary’s University School of Law, where he served as an articles editor on the St. Mary’s Law Journal editorial board, as well as president of the Technology and Intellectual Property Association. He was also selected for membership in the Phi Delta Phi legal honor society.
