Vol. 4 – February 22nd
In Vol. 3 we listed the members appointed to the House Pension, Investments, and Financial Services (PIFS) Committee and Senate Business and Commerce (B&C) who will likely hear any mortgage related bills. With assignments made bills can now be referred to committees. As of today no bills have been referred to either committee and no meeting schedule has been announced for PIFS. The Senate B&C has posted its first hearing on Thursday February 25th. The purpose of this hearing is to examine extreme weather condition preparedness and circumstances that led to the power outages as directed by Electric Reliability Council of Texas. The first date committees can take action on non-emergency bills is Friday, March 12, 2021 (60th day). This same date is the deadline for the unrestricted filing of bills and joint resolutions other than local bills, emergency appropriations, and emergency matters named by the governor.
