Vol. 3 – February 8th
In the midst of the pandemic disruptions, a word of good news is the stability and leadership for the members of the two committees where the majority of mortgage and financial issues appear. Now that committees are formed bills can be referred out.
Senate Committee assignments were announced on January 15, 2021. Senators Kelly Hancock and Robert Nichols were both reappointed as Chair and Vice Chair respectively of the Senate Committee on Business & Commerce. Eight of the nine current members served on this committee in the previous legislative session.
House Committee assignments were announced on February 4, 2021. Unlike the Senate, the House Committee on Pensions Investments and Financial Services or PIFS only has two of nine members returning. However, both the new Chairman Rafael Anchia and Vice Chair Tan Parker are not new to this committee having served in prior sessions including Rep Parker holding the position of Chair for PIFS for the 84th and 85th legislative sessions.
