Polunsky Beitel Green Director of Regulatory Affairs and former Commissioner of Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending will advise Center on real estate finance matters
SAN ANTONIO – Polunsky Beitel Green, LLP is pleased to announce that its Director of Regulatory Affairs, Doug Foster, has been elected to vice chairman of the Texas Real Estate Research Center (TRERC) at Texas A&M University. In this role, Foster, a former commissioner of the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending who has helped shape the Texas mortgage regulatory landscape, will advise the Center on matters related to real estate finance.
Part of the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, the Texas Real Estate Research Center was created in 1971 by the Texas state legislature with the intention of resolving real estate issues through applied research. The Center is the nation’s largest publicly funded organization devoted to real estate research. Foster’s term at the Center will run through 2027.
“Doug is among the most knowledgeable and respected mortgage regulatory authorities in Texas, if not the nation,” said Allan Polunsky, managing partner and founder of Polunsky Beitel Green. “I have no doubt that TRERC will benefit immensely from his expertise, just as our firm does each and every day. We congratulate Doug on this tremendous honor.”
At Polunsky Beitel Green, the country’s leading law firm representing mortgage lenders, Foster advises clients on the complex regulatory environment for residential mortgage lending and provides comprehensive interpretation of federal rules and statutes. He is one of the firm’s two former oversight commissioners of the Texas Department of Savings & Mortgage Lending and was responsible for implementing much of the state’s current regulatory framework for mortgage lending. Foster also currently serves as the Director and Chairman of SouthStar Bank’s Audit Committee.
