Polunsky Beitel Green’s Director of Regulatory Affairs and former Commissioner of Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending continues to advise Center on real estate finance matters
SAN ANTONIO – Polunsky Beitel Green LLP is pleased to announce that its Director of Regulatory Affairs, Doug Foster, has been elected Chairman of the Texas Real Estate Research Center (TRERC) at Texas A&M University, effective January 1, 2024. Foster was appointed to the Advisory Board of TRERC in 2021 by Governor Greg Abbott and elected vice chairman in March 2022. A former commissioner of the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending who has helped shape the Texas mortgage regulatory landscape, Foster will continue to advise the Center on matters related to real estate finance.
The nation’s largest publicly funded organization devoted to real estate research, the Texas Real Estate Research Center was created in 1971 by the Texas State Legislature as part of Texas A&M’s Mays Business School in College Station. Its mission is to resolve real estate issues through applied research.
“For more than 40 years, Doug has shown himself to be one of the most knowledgeable and respected regulatory authorities in Texas, if not the nation,” said Allan Polunsky, managing partner and founder of Polunsky Beitel Green. “We are pleased to see TRERC continue to recognize and benefit from his expertise and congratulate Doug on this tremendous honor.”
At Polunsky Beitel Green, the country’s leading law firm representing mortgage lenders, Foster advises clients on the complex regulatory environment for residential mortgage lending and provides comprehensive interpretation of federal rules and statutes. He is one of the firm’s two former oversight commissioners of the Texas Department of Savings & Mortgage Lending and was responsible for implementing much of the state’s current regulatory framework in that area. Foster also currently serves as the Director and Chairman of SouthStar Bank’s Audit Committee.
